Healthcare delivery is expensive and complex all over the world. Our goal is to minimize the intensity of that burden on at-risk communities using our disease prevention, medical outreach, referral, and follow-up interventions. Reducing healthcare burden also requires equipping primary health centres with basic medical devices, and we assist that objective.

Advocacy

Our strategy is built on consultations and relationship building with host communities. We recognize our competence in developing reliable needs-analysis; however objectives around identified needs are formulated with the communities. The general goal is to have communities that are receptive to proposed interventions and are willing to see them succeed sustainably.

Sensitization

Our sensitization initiatives are designed to achieve a set of measurable goals. Most of our activities in healthcare and economic opportunity spaces essentially seek to reduce, increase, strengthen, engage, or sustain an outcome. Therefore our communication channels carry simplified and relatable images of our messages.

We also partner with community spokespersons to further strengthen our messages and ensure active participation of beneficiaries.

Disease Prevention

Our disease prevention interventions are designed to reduce the direct medical burden of diseases and increase productivity. We focus on social and material indicators of health, and consequently develop sensitization programmes that inform at-risk communities of required behavioural changes around oral and dental hygiene, substance abuse, tobacco use, mental health; as well as practical measures targeted at decreasing medical impacts of ‘compelling bad behaviours’.

Medical Outreach

The goal of Baywood Foundation’s medical outreach is to make available quality and free healthcare services to indigent populations in sub-urban communities, with a view to reducing morbidity and mortality rates; while improving the overall quality of life. This is done by employing the services of a multidisciplinary health team that are chosen based on qualification, proximity, specialization requirements, availability, and an estimated number of patients.

Equipment of Health Facilities

Baywood Foundation works with International and development partners to equip health facilities in sub-urban and marginalized communities and locales. The decision to embark on this project was birthed by the discovery that most of these communities have spaces or structures designated as health centres but lacking in basic medical devices such as the sphygmomanometers.
